A young boy visited his grandparents' farm every summer. One day when he and his mother drove up to the house, his grandfather was in the barn about to bury a horse that had died.
The grandfather came out to chat with the boy's mother. Suddenly the boy said to his grandpa, "PaPa, I've been coming here for six years and I never heard you speak about my father. Mom said you put him out of your house when he was 17 years old."
The grandfather looked at the boy with his mouth full of tobacco and said to him, "Go over there and kick that horse."
He did as his grandpa said, and told him that nothing had happened.
His grandpa responded: "You didn't expect a dead horse to move because you kicked it?"
